HOW DO I WORK?

My approach in counselling is Person Centred, working in an intuitive and integrative way, drawing on skills from other models to tailor your therapy and meet your specific needs. These models include Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural therapy, Transactional Analysis, Art Therapy, Psychosynthesis and Neuro Linguistic Programming.

Counselling is often short-term focusing on a specific problem. Long-term in-depth counselling takes a more detailed look at the roots of the present difficulties. At our initial meeting, we shall decide whether long or short-term counselling would be appropriate.

The therapeutic relationship that develops between us is an important aspect of the counselling process. Through this relationship we can develop a level of safety that enables you to explore and understand parts of yourself and yourself in relation to others that trouble you in order to change, move on in your life and become the person you desire to be.

Everything that we discuss is strictly confidential unless I have concerns that you or someone else is at risk of harm.

People come to me through Employee Assistance Programs, referred by their G.P. or via the internet. However, the majority of my work comes through personal recommendation, which I find particularly rewarding.

MY EXPERIANCE

My career within the care and therapeutic services spans over 25 years providing a wide experience of working with people from all walks and phases of life. Working within the N.H.S. both as a nurse and a counsellor equipped me with knowledge and experience in crisis, relational issues, chronic illness and disability, death and dying as well as the rewards of seeing people recover, change and move on to recreate their lives which continues to inspire me.

My special interests include loss & bereavement, relational issues, emotional and spiritual development and facilitating you to develop an empowerment to create the relationships and the life you are seeking. I am happy to assist you in what ever difficulty you are facing and will seek to refer you to another colleague if I feel you would benefit from their expertise.

I have developed a deep understanding of the body, mind & spirit in relation to ourselves, others and our modern lifestyles and how they become distorted to create unhappiness, illness and loneliness. I believe we instinctively seek the wellbeing within ourselves and have the capacity to fulfil our potential and dreams.

The joy in my work is helping you find your path towards a balanced well being and to your potential and dream.
